Kinemetic Viscosity Meter
A Kinemetic Viscosity
Test Method¡G

Viscosity is the ratio of constant reaction and power of cutting when fluid flows. In other words, viscosity is also a resistance in the motion of flowing fluid, it usually means by Kinemetic Viscosity (Centi-Stock).
The testing method (see the illustration) uses absorbent ball to absorb oil in kinemetic viscosity meter, makes oil surface above A point for 5m/m and let the oil bear gravity effects to flow to B point through tiny tube in 40¢J or 100¢J. The total time(second) that oil flows to B point multiply to the Constant of kinemetic viscosity meter is Kinemetic Viscosity (Stoke).

(1Stock = 100Centi-Stoke)

B Absolute Viscosity

Absolute Viscosity can be counted via Kinemetic Viscosity.

Absolute Viscosity (Centi-Poise) = Kinemetic Viscosity (cSt) * Oil Density (g/ml)

C Visvosity index (VI)

Viscosity index measures of degree of oil viscosity by temperature changes. The VI is higher means the change of viscosity is smaller, the VI is lower means the change of viscosity is larger.

P.S. There are many testing methods of viscosity, we can not list them one by one. The above is the simple summary, the details can be found refer to standard JISK2283.

Penetration of Grease¡GJISK2220  
Penetration also called as Hardness, it is to test the degree of soft or hard of the grease. Its testing method is to let hardness awl free fall into surface of grease for five seconds, if the figure is larger (depth is deeper) the grease is softer, and if the figure is smaller the grease is harder.




Dropping Point of Grease¡GJISK2220   Oil Separation of Grease¡GJISK2220  
Dropping Point is to test the temperature of grease from solid state or half solid state to liquid. Its testing method is to put grease in dropping point glass (put in a special made test tube), then heats oil until grease liquefies. The temperature of this time is the dropping point of grease. Oil Separation is to test the situation of oil (base oil) separation generated from grease in oil separation net in fixed quantity of oil (10g), temperature and time (100¢J*24Hr). If amount of oil separation increase, it means the amount of oil that can be adsorb by soap is less. The reverse is true.
Evaporation of Grease¡GJISK2220  
Evaporation is to test the amount of evaporation when grease is in shallow container in fixed quantity of oil (20g), temperature and time (100¢J*24Hr). If amount of evaporation is increases, it means the amount of oil evaporates increases in high temperature.
Copper Corrosion¡G  
Copper Corrosion is to test whether it is corrosive when grease contact with metal (Use polished copper to dip in oil in 100¢J for 24Hr).
Plastic Corrosion¡G  
Plastic Corrosion is to test whether it is corrosive when grease contact with plastic (Use foaming PS to smear oil in 80¢J for 24Hr).
Pour Point¡G  

Pour Point is the lowest temperature that cools the oil to non-fluid under regular conditions. The testing method is to put fixed amount of grease in test tube, according to the regular conditions. Refrigerate the test tube and then take it out, set it as obliquely until it set still. Within five seconds there will still be the highest temperature of the pour. The lower the pour point means the old can be used is lower temperature.
